Some libraries do not allow patrons to return a book early. In this case, Thorium Reader won't display a return action.
I get an [ERR_ASSERTION] error while opening files with the reader: what does it mean?
This issue is related to network settings and most common on corporate or university networks.
You can either:
- Try to download the same ebook on another network
- Or contact the network administrator at your university for additional help
If you contact your network administrator, here's the relevant information that you can share with them:
Some corporate deployments of Thorium Reader for Windows, macOS, or Linux are used behind a proxy server that creates an HTTPS bridge between the intranet and the Web. This proxy server must be declared to Thorium Reader v3.4.0 or later via the HTTPS_PROXY and HTTP_PROXY environment variables. The value of each property is the proxy server's URL.
Other corporate intranets include a corporate firewall, which has no declared proxy but a self-signed certificate in the OS CA store. Thorium Desktop v3.4.0 does not have access to this OS CA store; v3.5.0 will load the OS CA store and merge it into the application's own default network stack.
